Very, Very, Super Very IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION:

1.  All participants and spectators are to enter the park through the MAINTENANCE DRIVE ENTRANCE (which is approx 100 yards east of the main park drive on S. River Rd).  NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PARK AFTER 7:00am.  This is to ensure the safety of the cyclists exiting the park.  If spectators are coming to view the event, all vehicles MUST in the park by 7:00am.  PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO ARE COMING TO WATCH!

2.  NO DOGS permitted.  The CHaMP CHuMPS love doggies, but they are not allowed at the beach or on the grounds.  This is a health department thingie, and they set the rules!

3. Prepare for GOOD WEATHER!  Saturday weather: Race-time temperature will be in the 60's with highs of 78 and partly cloudy skies with NW breeze of 10mph.

3.  Good News!  The 10:00am curfew/kick-y'all-out-of-the-park thing has been lifted!  For those of you that have raced this event in the past, you know that the we had to clear the park out by opening time which was 10:00am. But not anymore!!!  Due to a change in the park hours, you will not be rushed out of the park and can stay and enjoy the day!  (there will be an admission to swimming, however...not a CHAMP-thing, but a metroparks thing :(

Swim: 400 yards / Run 1.4miles (duathlon)

The swim course takes place in a small recreational swim lake all within 4-6 feet of water and is one of the safer swim venues in the area.  The athletes will follow a 200 yard lane line heading outbound, and then turn around a buoy and head back to the TA.  The swim lane/buoys will be on the athletes right side.

Bike Course: 10.5 miles

The 10.5 mile course is a 1 lap course in hopes to alleviate some congestion on this popular bike course.  The course will exit the MAINTENANCE Drive (NOT the main gate drive) and head right (or East) on S. River Road to head out to the course.  Bikers will roll along some flat fast sections and some gentle rollers before returning back to the park via S. River Road and back into the park MAINTENANCE Drive. (NOT the main gate drive).  UPON ENTERING THE PARK ON THE MAINTENANCE DRIVE, ATHLETES WILL THEN TAKE A RIGHT ONTO THE PARK ROADS HEADING BACK TO TA.  In the past, riders coming back into the park on the maintenance road would take a LEFT onto the park road, but this year the riders will take a RIGHT upon re-enterting the park from the mainenance drive.

PLEASE TAKE CAUTION in the 1st mile and the 10th mile while riding in the park as the park roads are technical and winding.

Run Course: 2.8 miles

The run course is 2 laps x 1.5 miles and is contained completely within the park grounds.  A great spectator course as athletes will run the peaceful park grounds that are closed to traffic.  The route will run COUNTER-clockwise around the lake.
